Some projects start as an idea in your head, then are put on paper and planned. Then they are not executed for reasons only known to you but, before you throw the project out do this
Keep Project Files
To keep your dead projects alive and accessible at a later date, create a simple filing system. A little organization prevents a lot of stress in the future. Also, prevents good ideas from disappearing forever and regret moving in.
Open folders and name them for instance as; ongoing, paused or finished projects. Inside each project folder, add how the idea came about. Every detail you can remember no matter how trivial or silly put it down. This will be your ‘how it started’ story, when things work out.
Also, if you end up in court for “stealing an idea” there will be proof that you did not.
Revisit Project Files
If an old idea starts to come up in your head years later, it may be its time has come. Revisit the idea but, remember that even with fresh eyes it will look much the same as it did the first time around. Except now, things have changed and an idea that once felt impossible may suddenly make sense years later because the environment or you have changed.
Experiences, yours and those of others, the market and some of the things that were missing when you had your idea may now be available. So, revisit that project as it may work now because the time for it has come.
Re-Start Small
When you had your idea the first time you probably went in full throttle. You spent days and nights getting things ready that probably should have taken you months to achieve because you were desperate to get to market. Do not do this now.
Do not make the mistake many make of trying to build and have a product or service ready in a few days, weeks or months. This approach often will overwhelm you and you will lose momentum before the idea has a chance to come to fruition.
Even when the conditions are right, you cannot build in a day!
