Do These 6 Things to Unleash Your Creativity

We are told time and time again that we must be creative if we want success. At work and at home we must be able to deal skill-fully with new situations and difficulties. That we must try to transcend traditional ideas, rules, patterns, relationships, and create new meaningful ideas and methods. Add originality, progressiveness and imagination and many people balk.

To unleash your creativity here is what will help you

  • Do not over think it

The fact that you wake up in the morning and get out of bed; wash and eat in the morning you are being creative. The process you have gone through is not a mechanical process. You put some thought into preparing for your bath and getting dressed. And there is no way you will do the same thing every morning. Something or some act changes.

So because you have not started the day the same as the day before you are using your ingenuity and resourcefulness!

  • Give yourself credit

You probably are one of those people that think you can’t apply the word creative to yourself. You think creativity is only for certain rare people. People with an inborn gift, lucky people and people that unleash fresh ideas at the blink of an eye lid; this way of thinking makes creativity seem both remote and difficult.

The simple fact is that if you’re alive, you’re a creative person. You do start the day with nothing done but at the end of the day you saw, heard or experienced something.  And at the end of the day this information means that you are different and your person is different from the person you were at the beginning of the day.

  • Remember to keep doing your work

People tend to put down or look down on the tedious and mundane. And if you are one of these people with a “tedious and mundane” job or look down on people who do then you underestimate them and theirs and your own ability to stick to the tedious!  It takes a certain inventiveness to stick to the mundane.

Yes it is the same thing and mechanical or as expected but I am sure; you crack jokes (and the best ideas come as jokes) you sing or recite verse. And at the end of the work day you have been doing something and if you have been busy doing something, you have been creating.

  • Use your voice

It’s amazing the opportunities people miss because they keep quiet. They doubt their own powers of persuasion even when bosses make short-sighted decisions. Instead of suggesting an alternative they go away saying things behind the bosses back complaining that the boss never listens anyway.

Use your voice and put your ideas out there and so what if you are wrong?

“If you are not prepared to be wrong, you’ll never come up with anything original”.

The important thing for you is to use your voice, to question, to find out, so that your own initiative may be awakened.

  • Do something you like occasionally

Do activities you used to enjoy or have stopped doing or look for something you know you will like. Not because you have to, but because you want to.

Rely on your talent to make the choice. Everybody is talented because everybody who is human has something to express. Use your talent and take the opportunity to put your mind to work.

Innovation is simply seeing and doing the opposite of the always; put down your phone and do something other than stare at the screen. Actually socialise, improvise and enjoy your friends and family.

  • Don’t wait

Start doing your thing, whatever that thing is. Do not wait until you know who you are to get started because you will never get to that point. As a person you will change every single day and very single moment. You are an evolving being and your evolution is crucial for the next steps in your life. So look things up. Chase down every reference and don’t wait!

Creativity is made up of a lot of small steps. Take them and yes along the way you will make a lot of mistakes but-do allow yourself to make mistakes. Be curious about the world in which you live. Do not wait for the right time because there is no right time.

The time is now to unleash your creativity!
