Procrastinating with Action

It creeps up on you and will find you a good place to linger, procrastination. It’s a clever mind bender. One minute you are up and ready to do some work the next, you are still scrolling.

The most common way to catch up and find out what is happening has a habit of eating away at your time. You need to

Combine Tasks

Since you cannot start the day without checking on what the rest of the world is doing, always have your own tasks at mind. If you are working on finishing a report, reading a report, preparing an advertisement or updating your media. Pair the tasks with the content you linger on.

Two birds with one stone, so to speak. As scrolling is part your daily routine, have your mind on your own tasks. If there is something on what is trending that has something to do with what you are working on, procrastinate by all means. You might learn a few tricks or two. If it is far off, stop and pick up the work you are meant to be doing and get on with that instead.

Be Aware

If you work with other people and are expected to be on top of things, procrastination is a little more difficult. However, if you have a coffee break in between, throw time in for procrastination.

Be aware of the time and be ready to put that device away as soon as your time is up. Lingering and continuing to scroll will not bode well. Bookmark, save or simply close the device and go and do your work.

Not finishing the post you are reading will not change your life instantly but, it might cost you your customer or a job.

Pay Attention

Pay attention to what you are spending your time on and if it is something that is crucial to your moving up in the world, by all means indulge. However, if this trend persists, you might be in trouble. You are a serial procrastinator and need to nip that in the bud.

Progress comes slowly, after years of doing and finishing tasks so remember that reading about another’s successes or updates online will not miraculously put you in the same position. Develop a time management approach to procrastinating that will also serve you.

Managing time is difficult especially if you work on your own but, looking for inspiration and spending time reading about how another has made an idea work for them will not mean much if you can’t find the time to sit down and focus on your own work or business.
