You noticed a problem, found a solution and have started a business. However, it is taking a lot longer than you thought for your business to take off despite having put your best foot forward.
In fairness to you, it is quite difficult to control people’s behaviour but, what you can control and have the power to manage is the expenses.
If you keep your expenses low and manage your time diligently, the chances are that you will succeed in building a profitable business.
As managing your expenses is that 1 important thing to look out for in your hustle and here is how you can do it
Be Stingy
Your business is the most important thing for you right now but, never put money into it that you need for food or for paying for accommodation. Therefore, be stingy with money and put in more time instead.
Your time is very valuable and it is the one thing you have under full control. Spend time talking about your business, follow up on old customers, go and see a possible new customer. Spend time trying to reach more and more customers.
You have a smart phone so spread the word via the platforms of your choice; WhatsApp, X, LinkedIn, Instagram or Meta. These platforms are there showcasing their products or service, you too should be spending your time on them promoting your hustle.
Do Not Spend Before You Get
Credit is not the same as cash money. So, if your hustle runs on a credit system as many do and you are recording profits, remember credit is not the same as cash. So wait for the cash to come before you start spending it.
Just because on paper your product or service is showing a big profit it is not actual cash in your hands. So resist the temptation to spend it. Especially, do resist going out to borrow money on the premise that you will pay back using the money that you have on paper.
Never go into financial debt to support your lifestyle or to prop up your business. If you do not have the cash in hand do not spend it.
Avoid Expensive Solutions
Be aware that there are many people out there ready to take your money in the guise of helping you make money. The number of people who spend money on a service or solution costing hundreds is very high. Do not be among that number.
Some of these “solution” experts are in the business of selling products and services to budding and even established businesses. Sometimes some will prey upon people that are desperate to succeed and will call on them to pay for something that will actually not help the business.
Paying for an expensive product or service for your business in the hope that it will help you make money is dangerous. Some of these solutions may very well work but, if you cannot afford them, you may very well not be ready for them.
