The most prominent mind-set shift in the modern economy these days is that you are the product. This is true whether you’re employed, unemployed, freelancing or running a business.
The important thing to take away from this is that now you must build demand for you and stop leaving opportunity and money on the table. The way to do this is to
Use the Same Handle across Platforms
The people winning right now aren’t waiting to be found. They are busy getting on a few platforms and positioning themselves like products. So much so that when they show up in real life, people will address them according to their handle. They are the perfume lady, the phone dealer or the saving and investing guru.
To position yourself, select a memorable name or use the one that you have been using for a while and people have come to know you by. Yes, sometimes it may read silly but, it is who people follow. Choose an appropriate picture of you or design a logo that speaks to your persona and upload it on all the platforms you are on.
Not be Confusing
Do not confuse followers. Not only followers but possible customers as people do not like inconsistencies. It makes them nervous, lose interest in you and unfollow. So, in your bio be consistent with the profile photograph, the summary of who or what you do, the contact address and numbers you can be reached on. This is the calling card at the top of every platform so be consistent as it is easy to spot the differences.
When you do an update about attending an event upload the same media on the different platforms. The angles may be different and the wording in the post and that is ok. The idea is to update the followers and inform your customers in a consistent manner.
Give a Call to Action
The banter and exchange of media on products is an ongoing thing but telling the people what to do and how to do it for you to make a sale or be asked for a gig is often neglected.
Make sure that every once in a while, once or week preferably, mention where you can be found or contacted. If you prefer to, give numbers via messaging then do mention that but, do remind people where they can contact you.
To keep customers contacting you, remind them where they can reach you. If is by going to a website then say so. Give them a reason to do so by adding and updating tips, messages, special offers and or events and directing them over there.
Make certain the website address is on the bio and update it on a regular basis.
