You see your friends and colleagues making strides in whatever they are doing but you are stagnant. They are getting jobs, being promoted, starting businesses and buying assets.
The world around you is changing and you are not changing with it. In fact you are at a loss as what to do. This should not be the case. Do not be left behind take action now.
This action can be
Joining a Group
There are many groups on line and off line that share common interests and many of them are around work life, business or hobbies.
The groups apart from giving you a sense of belonging they are also a forum where you can ask questions and get help, there are a place where you can garner knowledge from those who have been at it longer than you and where you can pick up some business ideas and get some leads for finding business or work.
Groups are also a good pace to be updated on upcoming events close to you. So join groups not just for looking for work or business; join some for being alerted for any events in your area, for fun and learning new hobbies.
You do not have to be in just one group, you can join as many as you like but not too many or your phone will forever be beeping.
Using Technology
The phone you are holding is a very powerful tool; use it for more than chatting and sharing memes. Technology has come at us fast and furiously and very few of us are embracing it.
Learn to use technology to update your skills and tool box. Even if you do a job that requires little technology, technology can help you up-grade what you already know. Learn how to use the AI app, watch videos, listen to experts and try to follow their steps.
Whether you are a painter, plumber, bricklayer, welder or carpenter, just like any other profession they are so many things going on in the technological world around your skill or profession. Find these things out and even though you may not be able to follow courses physically you can learn the virtual way. Ask people in the groups you belong to share information and links.
Staying Flexible
Sometimes the path to where you want to go may take a detour, be flexible and take the detour. By staying open to experiences not in your line of work and by accepting jobs you think are a waste of your time, you may just land that dream job or business opportunity.
Be flexible and do something other than what you were trained for; you never know who you will meet at the premises or what you will learn that may open the door to where you want to be in the future.
Keep an open mind and do not be left behind by being stubborn.
